Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy today pledged his support to social activist Anna Hazare, who is on an indefinite fast for a more comprehensive Lokpal Bill to effectively fight corruption.
"I welcome the demand of Hazare for a Lokpal Bill. (former IPS officer) Kiran Bedi has even invited me to join the civil society group. I am busy with electioneering in Tamil Nadu. I will extend my active support to Hazare after (April 13 assembly) polls," he told reporters here.
Swamy, whose party is contesting the polls in Tamil Nadu in alliance with BJP, claimed there was an anti-corruption wave in the state after he "exposed" the 2G spectrum scam.
The Janata Party leader, who is also a petitioner in the 2G spectrum case, said he expected that CBI would include more persons, including DMK Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi, in the second chargesheet in the case. CBI should also inquire into the death of P Deepak, a relative of former Union minister A Raja.
He said Union home minister P Chidambaram was also responsible for selling spectrum at the old rate as he was the then Finance Minister.
On chief minister M Karunanidhi's criticism of Election Commission, Swamy said the DMK patriarch knew that his party would taste defeat in the polls and hence started 'wailing' now itself.
