The ‘India Against Corruption’ campaign is gaining steam on Twitter. Earlier, we wrote about the anti-corruption campaign which now has attracted over 80,000 Facebook fans and 4,000 followers on Twitter at the point of writing.
The limelight, however, is on activist Anna Hazare who announced on 5th April that he will ‘fast unto death’ against corruption in India. His movement has generated huge support from the media, celebrities and users of social media. Log on to Twitter now and you will see his name on the worldwide trending list.
Bollywood director/actor @FarOutAkhtar, famous Twitter personality @jhunjhunwala and veteran actor @AnupamPkher have all voiced their support for Anna Hazare. Besides loud buzz on Twitter and Facebook, people had also gathered together to show their support and determination to fight corruption. In response to the pressure, the India Government has offered an open channel to communicate with Anna Hazare. You can catch the video below:
Today is already the third day of Anna Hazare’s ‘fast unto death’ movement. What we thought was initially a small movement turned out to be a trending topic on Twitter, forcing the Indian government to take action. Social platforms like Facebook and Twiter have given users the tools to come together as a unified ‘voice’. The team at IndiaAgainstCorruption.org has even organized a list of city-based organizers to get people across different cities in India to join Anna Hazare’s ‘fast unto death’ movement.
We are hearing that people are meeting in Mumbai at the Gateway of India in black for a movement. So far, it is just buzz that we’re hearing. There isn’t any concrete evidence that the revolt will take place. We will continue to monitor the situation.

We all stand by you Anna. We should not follow like Egyptian revolution and demolish corruption completely. In today’s face for all of us Govt. is the God. Govt is behaving like owner of this country. But in democracy it is People of India. So, power should be in hands of People of India but not in hands of Govt. Govt. has to act to serve people of india, but not to rule as dictatorship. Next step we need our constitution to be amended for the People of India, But not for the Govt wish
